Another way
You can replace the pendent by affixing the end of the new pendant (the one that will have the shackle) to the cockpit end of the old pendant. You can do this by taping the two together securely or by sewing the butt ends together. Of course, before you attach the old end to the new you will have to untie the stopper knot from the old pendant first, and remove the plastic grommet from the bridge deck that surrounds the pendant line hole. Once you remove the grommet, you will see that the tube is a lot more spaceous than it first appears. Once the new and old pendant lines are attached to each other, just pull the old line through from the keel. Untie or untape the new from the old when the new comes out of the keel, affix your shackle to the new eye splice, affix the shackle to the centerboard, and you are good to go. Don't forget to put a stopper knot at the end of the new pendant line before you pull it through!Replacing the motor mount is easy if you use a direct replacement. I bought mine from Rudy at D&R Marine. He used to work at Oday and knew the model that fit perfectly. I was able to use the existing spacer block (that angled hunk of fiberglass on the transom) without modification. No new holes needed to be drilled in the transom either. I also wound up replacing the mounting bolts as well. Of course you don't have to replace the entire bracket; you can just replace the piece of wood. You can try a wood substitute like Starboard for a no-maintenance option. I
