I just did mine yesterday. I had to haul it because of water temp in alaska, but it would have been EASY under water. I have a 76 which I understand is a little different that the newer boats but I changed mine to work more like yours with a shackel. Some of the boats had a cable attatched to a rope but everyone says to jettison the cable and run rope down all the way to the CB. I used 1/4" line. The clearance inside the keel is fairly narrow so after buying several different shackles for the job I found that the U shaped shackles seem to be the best fit (as opposed the the horseshoe style). The CB is shaped like a wing with the aftmost edge tapering down to about 1/8" and flaring out, rather quickly, toward the center to about 1" thick. My shackle which worked pretty good had...a 1/4" shaft, was 2" from top of the U shape to the shaft, and was 3/4" wide measuring the inside diameter. Also chose the shackle with a cotter pin locking mechanism instead of a screw in type. Oh yeah, grab a good 18 foot of line, too much is better than not enough. It's easy to cut and cap when your done. Good luck, you will find this to be a fairly simple job.
