Pelican Scorpio - good dinghy?

My sister just purchased a used 2002 pelican scorpio with a 2002 3.5 outboard. Your question is quite a coincidence as we are going to pay for it tonight. She thought it would be a good, maintance free boat for limited useage. I found my inflatable to be much more stable but to each his own. I hope the feedback is good on this model boat. If your curious to what she paid, or is paying tonight, its $500 bucks for boat and motor and both are in very good condition. Good question and I also look forward to the feedback. Jack

Compared to what?

Not much of a comparison to an RIB. Look at the load carrying comparison and motor sizes for something like a light weight Caribe. It only weighs about 103#, can carry a 10 hp motor and a payload capacity of almost 1000#.A good inflatable can be real asset to ferrying a load of people/supplies back and forth. It is hard to compare the stability of anything else to an RIB. There is also a large price difference with a RIB too, but that would be/is my choice for a tender.
