Peggy...
I'm specing out a new Tartan 4700 and need your help. In electric flush models do you have a preference between Tecma Easy Fit Premium and Dometic Sealand Vacuflush 5000 or 500 Plus series ?

None of the above

My choice would be the Raritan Elegance Raritan Elegance toilet which Practical Sailor rated "best in show" in their comparison of every major macerating electric toilet. I strongly recommend adding the optional "Smart Flush" panel...whether to also add the "Sea Fresh" option that allows you to switch between onboard pressurized flush water and sea water at will depends on whether you need to conserve your fresh water.

Coincidentally, someone who installed one a year ago just posted his "review" of it... read his comments--and I'm sure he'd be glad to answer questions too--in this thread:

And you and I prob'ly should discuss the rest of the system...let's get it ALL right the first time! So send me an email if you'd like to talk.

Happy to answer any questions. I am in the middle of installing a second one in the aft head. So it is all fresh in my mind at the moment.

I have a question if ok? (apologies for jumping on your thread jhiller)

My Hunter fresh water system doesnt have the recommended 1 inch pipe for the water pressure system on the raritan

As a result the water when flushing doesnt come from the front of the bowl - just from the rear.

I have t'd off from my faucet in the head to provide the fresh water and have roughly 4 ft of run.

If I go from the T to a 1inch pipe and run 4ft of it will my shurflo 5.5gpm pump provide enough pressure to keep the 1inch pipe workable for the toilet?

Currently I'm running the standard grey line to the back of the toilet and then adapting it to a 1inch hose for the fitting. The 1 inch hose section is only about 4 inches long just to provide the connection.

Hope that makes sense

Kind Regards

Redunc

Which Raritan toilet did you buy?

I don't think that's the reason. Check the holes in the front of the rim of the bowl for obstruction. A 5.5 gmp water pump should be more than powerful enough...most boats smaller than megayachts have 2.8 gpm pumps. Talk to tech support at Raritan 800-352-5630 x 6.

Hi Peggie

Tech support suggest I change the flow time of the freshwater pump on the toilet itself - didnt make a difference

Bowl is brand new and from first use it was like this (its why I upgraded the pump)

Brand new doesn't rule out a defect in the bowl. So connect a garden hose or any other hose to the intake to see what happens.

If there's no problem with the channel in the rim of the bowl there has to be a problem with the toilet intake plumbing. I just read on another board that someone had some problems with a bend that had kinked. If you can't solve it, get one of the techs from Raritan's Ft. Lauderdale plant to make a "house call." You'll find that phone number on the Raritan website.
