Groco IMHO...
Till Wilcox was bought out and the new owners retooled and brought all the mfr'ing back to the US from Costa Rica, the Groco HF was prob'ly the pick of the litter among "disposable" (anything you can buy at discount for under $150) toilets, but the company is difficult to deal with--they don't drop ship, they only sell through their distributors...and they charge a higher price for just one of something than they do for a boxful...all of which made it very hard to help somebody out who needed a part we knew we wouldn't sell 2 of in 3 years. Consequently, it can be very hard to find a part if you need one that nobody keeps in stock. And, I've found their heads to be temperamental...I never met one that didn't spit in your eye if it had been more than a year since the pump shaft seals had been replaced. Otoh, Groco's tech support was excellent...I never had anything to complain about when I had to call 'em 'cuz I couldn't figure out for myself what was wrong with a toilet. That's been my experience with 'em...your mileage may vary. As for whether to choose bronze or plastic...plastics have come a loooong way since your original toilet was made...and have improved considerably in the last 10 years. If I had to choose a new manual toilet for my boat, I'd go with the one that's consistently rated the best in its price range (under $500): The Raritan PH II....or the newer Cricket.
