Has anybody installed pedestal steering on a 240? Just curious to know if it's been done before. I have just purchased a 2000 hunter 240, and am new to the forum, thanks in advance..mike w

Pedestal steering H240
I have a H260 with pedestal steering and I'm sure there are advantages, but I often wonder if it's worth the cockpit space I'm giving up in a boat this small.

Hey Mike, I already thought just what your thinking. The Edson set up for retrofitting to smaller boats is Over 2,000 bucks! "transom hung rudders system for small boats" it's on page 13 of the edson catalog I'll be staying with the tiller! Good luck! Denise

It's Well Worth It
George, I also have a 260 and am going to put a pedestal system on this winter. I also thought that by having a tiller it would save space. Well, it does, but only to a point. If you have 4 people in the cockpit that darn tiller is doing nothing short of hitting everyone in reach in the head, making it difficult to steer the boat and is a real PITA. I think the best thing for a boat this size is a pedestal system. Mike
