My Islander 30 has a steering pedestal but no stainless steel pedestal guard that I've seen on many boats. They are usually stainless steel with two rails and a curved top.
I'd like to install a small cockpit table and was sourcing a pedestal guard today and found that Edson seems to the be the easiest to find in my area (Vancouver, BC). However, an Edson pedestal guard needs an Edson pedestal to connect to. I can't determine the brand of the steering pedestal on my Islander. I believe it was factory installed but I can't determine the brand used. Any ideas out there among Islander owners? Any suggestions for a pedestal guard?

Back when Islander was built there were two major pedestal suppliers and one was Edson, as you have found out and the other was Yacht Specialties, who no longer exists. I think if you call Edson up they might be able to help you with your problem. You can also get a machine shop who makes tube products build/bend one to your specifications. I think Edson is probably your best choice. They are nice people to deal with and I have found are customer oriented.

Solved!

Thanks Bill. It's an Edson. I was able to find a label to confirm.
