I have read all the archives on the pedestal guard for the Hunter 31. When I called Edson...they say that I have to drill and mount the bottom of the guard to the deck. I thought most people said that it would leak and they have a special mount so I don't have to do that. Any ideas? Thanks.

On my 85 H-31 the pedistal guard receiver is bolted into the floor, a factory intall I assume. When I saw the location it brought back great memories of going to the race track for the formula one races back int the seventies. Seneca is a beautiful lake (grew up in Binghamton)

edson pedistal guard

Jake, I've had the Edson pedestal guard on my H410 for 6 years. so far no problems. it's a pretty simple install. had to cut a hole in the headliner of the stateroom and I covered those with a small piece of teak. Bryce

Hi Jake, it depends upon the type of mount...

The straight Edson mount that I installed on our H28 was secured to the cockpit sole. I used screws (through bolts are better) and 3M4200 sealant; it did not leak and was very strong. The off set Edson mount on our current boat is attached to the pedestal. It is also very strong and did not require any holes in the sole. Terry

Thank you

Thank you all for the input. As always...putting another hole in the boat is something I try to avoid. Thanks again.
