Pedestal Guard

Bought boat used a few years ago. No pedestal guard. I guess the original owner didn't want to pony up the $75.00 in 1985. Trouble is "Yacht Specialties" is out of business. Any ideas out there about finding one or another solution - other than "custom" so I can install cockpit table and gain a handhold above wheel?

I acquired a double bend pedestal guard 12" on center having 1.25" tubing for my 1983 H31, but have opted to not install it this year. I found a top plate which fits the 1.25" tubing, but it looks like it won't fit the Yacht Specialties Pedestal, so now I have to attempt to find the correct top plate which fits if it exists? The other issue is how to attach to the cockpit floor. The existing guard appears to be bolted straight through, which may mean removing the headliner in the Q-berth for access. I just brought this boat, so I need a season to ponder this install and my list for this spring was just too long, so I had to chop the idea! Hope this helps. Greg W. De Pere, WI

There's a guy who comes on here frequently

that know a rigger in Mass that has a warehouse full of nav pods and pedestals and pedestal guards. I looked for an email from him but can't find it. perhaps he will come on and identify himself. he could be a great help to you. I wanted to take a trip down to his warehouse to look for nav pods myself. Good Luck George
