Hello fellow sailors... I have recently purchased a 1985 Catalina 27, however I am currently 800 KM away from it.. can anyone tell me what the measurements are for the grab rail on the pedestal (OEM) for a 1985 Catalina 27. I need to know if it is 1 inch tubing, the width (I believe it is 9 1/2 inch) and the height (which I believe is 49 inches) If someone would be able to confirm for me I would appreciate that! Thanks FOB fob66@cogeco.ca

It should be...

1 inch o.d. tubing on a 9.5 inch center. I really can't tell you how tall it should be some owners have been known to cut it down...

Marine or the whell Manufacturer would be the best place to start. If it came from the factory with a wheel you can get that info from Catalina if you give Catalina the id Number off the back of you boat...that is if you have them with you.

Hello Canada

I have a 86 Catalina 27 with OEM pedestal. I took the measurements this morning but "I am no expert" so don't take it as gospel. If your thinking about ordering the west Marine cockpit table that sells for $389 and opens with 2 leaves I bought one 6 months ago and will be selling it soon cause it was just to large for the cockpit. Anyway, from the inside, the open space between the tubes is {on mine}8 1/2 inches. From the floor to the inside of the top of the tube it is {on mine} 44 1/2 inches. Keep in mind that the tube may go into the floor an inch or so. AGAIN, I am no expert so please don't buy or build anything based on my measurments. Good luck, Jack

Thanks.

Thanks... Hey, nice site Acoustic... very nice pictures.... i have a question for you... with your Bimbni... i see you have a split back stay, and lets say you want to take in some sun, are you able to fold up the bimbni to the backstay and kinda wrap it up there? thats way some sun gets over the helm?
