Seakindly
Our Pearson 323 is seakindly with the wife being able to cook in 4-6' waves. She can also sleep in 6' waves. But with a low SA/Displacement it is fairly slow and with 4.5' draft doesn't point that high. It probally takes 15 kts to reach hull speed. If you have the volvo diesel 2500 hours is about 25% of life expectancy for a well maintained engine. One of the books that I've read said 10,000 hours on a diesel. They generally die from neglect long before they wear out. Sailnet.com has owner's reviews. When the wind gets up we do pretty well compared to other boats mainly because they reef before we do. A big headsail is essential has the boat doesn't sail well on main alone. But we have had ours for 4 years and if we sell it will be to get a larger boat. But we have spent 2 weeks on the boat comfortably. Twice we spent 4 days on the boat only getting off for a couple of hours for a beach walk. We sailed from Dog River to Pensacola and then on the outside back to Mobile and up the bay. Coming up the TN-Tom waterway we also stayed on the boat without getting off from Mobile to Demopolis. I'd say the strongest point of this boat is that it's comfortable even when it gets a little rough. It's no dog but is not a racer.
