I have a 1986 Pearson 303 with a 16 hp Yanmar. I have not used the engine enough to be able to determine its fuel consumption. Does anyone have experience with this boat and engine that can give me some insight into the gallons/hour that the engine consumes?

Most likely around 1/2 gallon per hour. What you can do is to start measuring your consumption. You don't need to go a whole season to do this. Fill up the tank and record the engine hours. Run the boat for four hours and fill it up again. Repeat a few times and you'll know for sure. You do have an engine hour meter, right? If not, you can find one and install it easily.

Sorry to come in late on this. We also have the 2GM engine and somewhere I acquired a burn schedule, maybe at a boat show. In any case, it shows a .4 gal/hr burn at 2000 rpm. The boat moves so easlily that we rarely get it spun up that high, esp in/out of the marina. Probably ought to goose it now and again, to blow out the gunk!
