I am a new owner of a 1975 Peasron 30 and I am going to be putting on some Scheaffer Stanchion Bases and posts that originally came with the boat. They were taken off when the deck was repaired and painted by the previous owner.

Problem is...The bases are angled 5 degrees, so if I put them on the deck the original way they came off (I can see under which way the bases went by the hole locations) then the posts will be angled in towards the boat. If I put them in the other direction, then they will be angled out.

Which way is the proper way??

Should the posts be angled in or angled out a few degrees??

Thanks

Typically they angle in. As the deck cambers the stanchions end up vertical. Though I do find that it makes for a tight squeeze past the shrouds and I do on occasion wish the angle was a little less...
