I have a pea sized hole/crack in my Port Toe Rail on the inside where the water drains (2007 Hunter 33). I just uncovered the boat and noticed it when washing. Originally it looked like black dirt but closer inspection revealed the winter frame must have cracked the gel coat. I may have sprayed water into it trying to wash it off.
1. Seems like a small amount of pressure may have caused this material to crack like an egg shell.
2. What is the best process to repair this hole?
3. Is the toe rail hollow or fiber glass under the crack?

Thoughts,

Joe

Epoxy repair kit... you can get one at any hardware store.. or you can get something like Marine Tex at any chandlery.

I have owned 2 Hunter and have had a few of those egg shape holes and some very small
but on a 2002 290 it ran about a foot long and so need to see how far it really is and than repair.

If it's small, about 1/4" more or less, then it's probably an air bubble because the mat, etc was not rolled well on the gelcoat during lay up; that happens a lot in corners and edges. In that case a putty made from gelcoat and cab o sil will repair it so you can't tell. Don't use epoxy or marinetex, they won't match and later polyester won't stick to epoxy (marinetex is epoxy). If it is big, it will take some grinding and mat to reinforce the area so it will not crack again. There are a lot of YouTube videos available.
