Does anyone know of a good source (website etc) to download nautical charts and info (NE region) onto a PDA for quick reference? My wife's an RN, and she has four sites for downloading medical info. I was hoping there'd be something for sailors. Regards

For free?

Are you looking for free charts? And what chart software do you have for viewing? To my knowledge there are no free charts that are viewable without the right software. The free NOAA ENC charts are downloadable but require chart software. Fugawi is one company that can display them. It can also attach your GPS. I believe there are a couple other companies making software for ENC charts.

A free reader

Another very good free chart reader is SeeMyDEnc that can be downloaded from http://www.sevencs.com. And a good free tide chart is at http://wxtide32.com both of these are worth a look and may be the answer to your needs.

Thanks

Checked 'em out, they look good. I didn't necessarily mean free but free is good. Regards, Steve

the medical information sites with us. Anything we boaters might find useful?

My wife downloads from places like this link. Mostly drug interactions , medical and pharmecuetical encyclopedias, drip rate calculators, stuff like that. Try this one if you like, but not a lot of first aid etc. Sorry, the others are on her laptop. Another one (free) is epocrates.com. You have to register as a medical professional, but epocrates doesn't ask you for a license #. The others do, I believe.
