Ditto. I have used Virgin's pay as you go system for two years now and find it satisfactory especially since I only pay for what I need. It runs on the Sprint network. As I recall, I have a choice of ten dollars for ten days, twenty dollars for thirty days or forty dollars unlimited for thirty days. Unless you download bunches of photos or videos, the volumes are plenty adequate.

You can choose either ATT, T-Mobile or I believe Verizon. I have only used ATT and T-Mobile personally.

It would be nice if you had all three.
Unless they just made wholesale changes, you don't get to choose the carrier. You choose the phone and straight talk chooses the carrier depending on the phone model. Android is t mobile in most areas unless your area has no t mobile coverage. Then you get att. Same for non android data phones. Everything is done by zip code.
There is info out there somewhere on a certain zipcode to use that gets you att android. Find that & use it because t mobile is terrible cruising the icw.

Anyone with experience on the icw with sprint data? I hear it is poor also.

The latest info I had was Verizon good, ATT fair, Sprint & TMobile poor on the ICW from Va to Ga.

I repeat "on the ICW from Va to Ga" which is what the OP was asking. Not Long Isl, not Texas, not Lake Erie...ICW

Ah, I have never purchased a phone from them. I always seem to have a pile of hand me down phones and just order their service (SIM card) and they let you pick a network.

We used a VirginMobile MIFI on our trip up the ICW, and while cruising the NE. Lately we have been having issues with it especially at Block Island. We had the no contract $40/mo no data limit plan, no longer offered. As documented in our ICW Blog we used it daily for email, weather uploading photos and blog updates. We had coverage except in some of the more remote stretches in Georgia.

I recently purchased a 4G MIFI for the T-Mobile network, which works fine on Block Island, on the boat and at the house. No contract $35/mo for 3G data.Their coverage maps indicate it should work for most of the ICW.
