Looks like

Looks kind of like a sub, says Deep Quest on the side of it, and a 50 cal on the bow. What kind of deal is that??

Sounds like a good project but

the 50 caliber at the bow kind of hints to a goofball.

I Googled it too

I googled this thing up. The whole deal kind of smells like rotten fish. And I think your right about the propulsion system being the Jet Ski on the back. My guess if this thing ever gets to any depth over two feet, it will not be intentional and it will never come back up.

Sub shore power

Not sure why, but I kind of find the shorepower hookup in the last picture of the sub, rather amusing. Okay, the whole thing is amusing, but that particularly struck me. And okay, that jetski "trailered" on the back, hmmm, what happens when the "sub" dives?? T J

In addition to the shore power...

They have a screen door on the starboard side. There is a a story that goes along with the "sub". It's a home built boat that looks like a sub and is outboard powered. The webstory had construction photos and detailed descriptions. It's kinda cool, in a weird way.

Update

I don't know what that thing is, but the R/V Deep Quest is on permanent display at the Naval Undersea Museum in Silverdale, WA. She still has her original pressure hulls and interior - everything but the batteries. To be sure I called the museum and asked them if they were missing any subs but I was assured that R/V Deep Quest is still on display just where they left her. http://www.hnsa.org/ships/deep.htm I don't know what this guy's game is but if he claims he owns the original sub he's a fraud.
