Passport renewal ????

The card is easier to carry while in country. No need to carry a big bulky book that someone would love to steal from your pocket. I have both and when at the beach or out for the evening, I have the card.

Depends on where you live. The card will get you in and out of Mexico and Canada only, and only by car or boat. I have was becase we cross to canada on Lake Superior, and it's a lot easier than keeping my book with me.

The card was initially created for people that live on borders and cross often in their cars.

If you plan to fly, you need the book.

er, AFAIK, the card is good for the Bahamas too fly or ship. I got both.

BTW, my turn around was pretty fast. took around a month to arrive.

That's good to know. I got mine 4 years ago. They said at the time they were trying to expand the list of places it works. Sounds like they have!

The book will do everything you need and is more useful than the card. You can put visa stamps in the book and you will need to show the visa entry stamp when leaving a foreign country. Best of luck on your travels.

Check the link below(from the U.S. State Department) it will explain what the passport card is good for and all else must use the passport book. The passbook trumps the pass card so there is no need to have both unless you want one for you own convince. The card has limited use, i.e. not good good for air travel and only select countries for land or sea entry.
