Hunter Passage 42 Bermuda
Our Passage 42 came with a 2 bladed, very efficent prop. Motored from KeyWest to Bermuda on less than one tank averaging 6.5 knots at 1800rpm. (no wind and oilly-calm)

Later, when slipped for maintenance, the yard removed the prop, said it was cracked and installed a 3 bladed one.. naturally, they were unable to locate the prop they removed, when I asked for it!

The 3 bladed one used a tank of fuel going around Bermuda, no thrust at all.

6 years later the yard says they found my prop.... but it doesn't have the same performance.. so am inclined to think it can't be the same prop.

PLEASE: Does anyone have any documentation referring to the standard prop size? (the yacht was built about 1993)

P42 Prop

Our 1991 P42 came standard with a three blade fixed, 18 X 15 RH bronze propeller. Love this prop. Plenty of thrust for maneuvering the boat. We've owned Belle-Vie since 2002 and have sailed her many thousands of miles all over PNW waters. I always keep it in neutral while under sail.

my 1991 H42 had a 2 blade when i purchased her, but i was lucky enough to find a brand new 3 blade variprop for sale that had been made for a H42 and never fitted- picked it up cheap and it made a HUGE difference. I will go to the boat Friday and will get specs for both then , and post them here

got to the boat today but couldnt get to the old 2 blade, but i have the following info;
Factory was 3 blade 18/12 RH

Variprop 3 blade 19x15fx14r. RH
The variprop made a HUGE difference- a totally different vessel after the 2 blade.
