Just curious if anyone has replaced this part ( Yanmar- 129474-33010) with anything aftermarket? The housing on mine is definitely ready to let go, and My Google fu has not yielded anything that states it is compatible. Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

That unit looks similar to my heat exchanger. You might find it a challenge to get the fittings for the hoses to match your hoses on a non OEM product. That said I suspect they purchased the part and had it labeled Yanmar.

The listed costs appears to be $350 USD. How much are you saving compared to the aggravation involved to find and make the after market part fit.

Lots of aftermarket heat exchangers available.. The crucial stuffs are surface area of the internal tubes and the passageways flow area. If the water side is engine coolant, the exchanger need not be made of anything exotic. If it has raw water on one side, then it'll need to be bronze or maybe stainless and have anodes? As John says, adapting the fittings will also take some thought. Something like this probably has more surface area and certainly has a high pressure rating. But if seawateer is on one side, it would be unsuitable since it can't be easily cleaned.

Might be good to get a gear head engineer involved.. They usually can be induced by application of cold beers..
