I tried in December to make a trip to Dauphin Island with our trailerable. The tide was much too low. Besides the north wind had the tide out a hundred feet. We tried Ocean Springs and Biloxi. It appears Biloxi small craft harbor might be usable in the spring to cast off. Is there anyone familiar with Pascagoula? It might make our day trip to Dauphin Island or Dog River more manageable. I second guess access to Dauphin Island marina in my swing keel 22.

Try D'Iberville

There is a public launch ramp under the I-110 Bridge if I remember right the one on the east side was steeper than the one on the west. There are also very good ramps in Long Beach one is noticeably steeper than the other but I forget which one. That does not help much with going to Dauphin Island I know but Cat, Ship, and Horn Islands are great too. I should also admit that this is all pre Katrina information but I do not think it is any different now. Except that using Google Earth Ship Island looks way smaller than it did before.

Here is Just What You Need

Good information on all the ramps along the Coast in Mississippi. I knew this was out there I just could not find it. Skip through the first few pages. The PK (pre Katrina)disclaimer goes with this as well. http://www.msstate.edu/dept/crec/publish/Access99.pdf

Pascagoula ramp

Kyle,up until last month i had my Pearson 30 in a slip at the Pascagoula harbor until i moved it a few miles closer to my house. The water from the slip out to the ship channel will be deep enough for your boat. I draw 5 feet and have not had a problem. Largest boat i have ever had on the ramp itself was a 20 foot Shamrock inboard and had no trouble. Have seen some Contender 30 center consoles being launched there and they did not appear to have trouble with the ramp.

Launch Ramp

Kyle, You should be able to launch you 22ft. boat in Dog River at the Beachcomber Marina it has a good ramp. The do lock the gate to the parking lot at night though. Any time there is a steady north wind for a couple of days, especially in the winter, the water is blown out of the bay. All the ramps in the area will be hard to use. Bob

I went by the Pascagoula Ramps today....

Kyle...the ramps at Pascagoula will be more than sufficient to launch your boat. While high tide would be best, unless there is a severe low tide you should be fine. There are also two docks, one long and one short that you can dock alongside until you're ready to go. Make you way through Pascagoula either on Market Street or Pascagoula Street...both will take you south to Beach Blvd. Turn right and follow it to the end....you are the ramps. There is plenty of parking. The run from these docks to Dauphin Island is about 25 miles. There is a small cove on the northwest side of Dauphin Island (where the bridge comes down and then comes onto the island) where you can drop the hook and spend the night. There are some nice docks but the club that owns them can get ugly if they catch you tied up to them. Nearby is a 7-11 store, a hardware store around the corner, and a few restaurants nearby. Dick...
