ok, so the little set screw went over the side. It's what they're suppose to do. We all know that.
It's the little Allen head pointy bit (that's a technical term) that holds the end cap to the pipe.
So where does one get replacements? A discussion with a bunch of web servers didn't shed any light on the matter. Stupid web servers....

You need to check a "bolt or fastener" business for a stainless 316 allen head screw.

Try http://edmfast.com or http://www.edmnut.com.

if you have a sample you will make there job easier. (Steal one from another pipe on the boat). Or you may have to buy an assortment and try them till you get the correct thread and size.

Ace is the place sometimes. Otherwise you'll have to go to a plumbing supply store/company for stainless bath fixture screws.

John, edmfasteners is great for bolts and nuts, but this is too specialized. Victory in Vancouver does sell them, I'll likely order a small bag.
Ace who? They came, they set up shop, they packed up shop, they left.

Ace hardware will most likely have it. They have a section for lots of little buts and bolts... Oh wait it's nuts and bolts... In there is a section of stainless set screws (allen wrench style)

And of course bye at least 3, 1 for Neptune, 1 for for the intended purpose and one as a spare

Good luck

West Marine had a good assortment when I was in business but also relied on Fastenal as a secondary. Have you tried True Value as some stores had a good assortment of stainless of nearly everything in the smaller diameters.

Lowes also has a bin of "hard to find" parts near the SS bolts. I have gotten set screws there before.

I don't know why West wouldn't have them. They are available at both marine stores down here. If you go to a hardware store, take a magnet as they may have steel instead of stainless.

Try McMaster Carr. You will have to buy more than you need right now, but as you have learned, sometimes they those set screws just want to go swimming. Lots of other good stuff at McMaster.

Yeah, Ralph suggested that, and Victory has them.

As mine go swimming, I drill out the pipe (maybe tap it, too) and put a real bolt through the fitting and the pipe.
