I have an older O'Day 22 that incurred some damage when a tree fell against it. I'm considering selling it for $500 or parting out everything. Does anyone have any advise? Boat, motor, trailer, cushions and lots of goodies would make someone a nice trailer sailor if the damage was repaired. The hole/damaged area is the size of a volley ball. Half of the hole is in the hull and the other half is on the deck. The motor is an older Evinrude 6 hp with electric start. The trailer is a painted roller (not bunks). I can send e-mail pics if any one here has an interest. The boat is very fixable, just needs a little glass work....ok, maybe more than a little :) Don

My Opinion

It all depends if you just want to get rid of the damaged boat, and don't need the extra money or want to spend the time slowly selling off parts one at a time. The 6 hp electric start outboard would probably fetch you close to what you wanted to sell the whole thing for.

I would be interested in buying your winches, especially if they are self-tailing. Novelman

O'day 22'

The value of your O'day 22 when parted-out is much greater than the $500 you stated. The motor alone could bring $400-$500, the rudder and tiller $100-$200, the swing keel and winch $150-250, the mast and boom $100-$300, the winches$50-$100, the rigging $50-$100, The main sail, genoa and jib $300-$500 and the trailer $1,000-$1,500 (these are especially in demand.) Other misc. items such as hatches, cushions, lifelines, sheets, halyards, could bring another $250-$400. Just put them on this site under classified ads "gear for sale" and/or on E-bay and you will get lots of action. Good luck. Novelman
