I have heard this is a pretty common event in boating communities. We were so pressed for time to get the boat ready we took very few pictures and the few we took at night were blurred. This is one we took while still setting up. We had a large panda that lights up on the front and a snoopy that lights up on the boom. We tried to stay with a red, white, and black color theme to go with the boat. The lights on the life lines were bright red an illuminated the side of the boat. We had lights up the front stay and back stay and they really created a Christmas tree outline with the anchor light turned on atop the mast. We powered everything with a Honda EU2000. It was a nice color scheme but it was not as over the top as some of those 50+ foot power boats had going on.
We had a blast during the parade and there we much more people on the shore than I was expecting. This boat parade has quite a following in the community. I was just happy to be a part of the event and we were quite surprised to receive a trophy for 1st place in the sailboat division. Sorry about the low quality cell phone picture, was not planning on taking one at the award ceremony and after party. Our 7 year old was beyond thrilled and the trophy sits on top of his piano at home.
Do many of you take part in this type of event? This was our first year. We are already planning for next year's lighting ideas.
