Paneling the aft and fore cabin walls on Oday 25.

I have seen some pretty outstanding pictures of people that have done custom hardwood paneling inside the galley. Does anyone have any recommendations on how to do this? I have done this on houses but am wondering if there is anything else I need to know for a boat. (Besides not using finishing nails )Do you use an epoxy to stick up the panels? I was going to use dado individual boards.thanksjason

Panelling fore and aft in O'Day 25

My 1977 O'Day 25 came with an unmentionable "Red" color fabric covering the bulkheads.Because of water damage I have built and installed new bulkheads from a good quality birch plywood and stained it to a caramel-like teak color.The first stain applied was a Minwax Colonial Maple followed by Watco Medium Walnut. Then a couple coats of Minwax Polyurethane satin with sanding in between, to seal it from further water damage.The picture shows the bottom of the bulkhead finished and the products used.

Paneling

We used a wooden lapstrake unfinished panel in our O'Day 28. We attached it with liquid nails and with the boat in Florida for over 3 years have had no problems with it coming off. We also held it in with the existing trim. We stained it with a cherry stain to help keep the inside light and then varnished with a satin finish. This made the boat look like a new one.Good Luck
