Looking at a Panasonic Toughbook Wireless Display CF-VDWO7 to use along with my Dell laptop which has my Nobeltec VNS software and all my digital charts on it. I understand that you do not need a Panasonic Toughbook laptop to use this but that any laptop with wireless will work. I currently strap my laptop up against our Raytheon radar display which is under our hard dodger on our 42' Cascade. I would like to leave the Dell down below and just use the Wireless Display up in the cockpit as I know that strapping the laptop is hard on the screen. Has anyone had any experence with this product and if so what did you think?

Why? An Ipad is smaller, better software available, cheaper and more versatle.
I've been using mine on my boat for a few years now.

Ipads are not water proof, these are designed to be droped from 6' and still work. Drop your Ipad from from 6' and see if it still works. Don't get me wrong my wife loves her Ipad I just don't think they are made for the the type of punishment they would be subjected to in cockpit at sea.

Thanks, I was using the model number and kept getting e-bay seller ratings for it. I'll look into it more. I'm interested as I also like using the computer way better than a pad/tablet.

I did come up with an under $150 daylight display option, but have only tried it at home and not on the boat. It isn't wireless, but uses a coax cable to the display and the resolution of the display is not monitor quality. Still I can see good detail with it out to about 4-5 miles from the boat using NOAA charts on SeaClear,
