Does anyone out there have any suggestions as to how I can lift my 5411 diesel to access the oil pan in order to replace a leaky gasket. I also plan to remove the flywheel and replace the rear seal. Any info would be appreciated.

gasket replacement

Tony, I also had to service my pan, while out cruising. With the lack of tools, I managed to lift the engine slightly by using the main sheet blocks. Of course, you need to loosen all of the motor mounts and coupling bolts prior to doing this. If you have the use of a come-a-long or like devise, utilize your boom as an anchor point. Pad your boom or use a nylon sling to prevent damage. The motor was lifted easily. I did not take to countertop out, but this is easily done by removing the hold down screws and removing the under the sink drain hoses and then wiggling and pulling the cabinet towards the center line of the boat. Sounds involved I know, but it isn't really.

Thanks a bunch. You're suggestions will be observed. However, I think I will do the project this winter. I am going sailing now so Bon-voyage!
