Hello,

The interior engine cover/hatch steps on our Hunter 376 is looking a bit dingy. We were thinking about painting it. I'm wondering if anyone has tips or recommendations from experience on painting Interior fiberglass. There are a number of YouTube/website how-to's, but I don't always trust those recommendations (IE will the paint job stand up to folks climbing on/handling/moving around the painted hardware).

If you've done something similar what brand/type of paint did you use? Has it held up? Any tips or tricks?

Attached is a picture of the cover we're looking to paint.

Thanks!
Doug

Definitely do not paint it. Compound and polish it. Assuming you can remove it from the boat to work on it, it should be an easy job. It'll look better than paint and there will be no paint to ever fail.

If you're not handy with a buffing wheel and the techniques used to get good results, try Collimate Fiberglass cleaner. You just do it by hand using microfiber cloths. Finish with a couple coats of Collimate paste wax.
