Painted keel?

I'm hoping to get a few opinions.

I purchased my O240 mid last summer. It was always a lake boat until I bought it. I sail and dock her in saltwater. The bottom of the keel has not been bottom painted.

The boat sits on a trailer during the offseason. The wing keel rests directly on the trailer so I can't paint the bottom of it. I'm afraid to jack it up. I'm considering trailering her to a marina and have them lift it off the trailer so I can paint the bottom of the keel.

Is it worth spending the money so I can paint the bottom?

Do those with a wing keel paint the bottom?

When I had access to the actual bottom of the keel I painted it...then we changed the berthing a couple years ago and I have not painted the bottom of the keel itself since.....The keel itself when it comes out of the water never has much growth on it.....the visible part of the keel we do paint w/ bottom paint..
it's not a big problem painting under the when the boat is on the crane, but I just have not done it but again it doesn't have much of anything on....we have a hi-pressure hose at uur club crane and that cleans it really well w/o a new coat of paint. So I think you should be fine...paint what you can
see.

Yes, I paint the bottom of the keel. I have some boat jacks, though, from Scaffoldsmart.com. I get it up about 6 inches off the trailer and hand sand it and paint it. You could do it when the boat is on a lift as well. I find owning jacks is worth it. I can lift the boat to paint it, and I don't even remove it from the trailer entirely. Just lift it, paint, move the jacks, and paint the remaining spots.
