I'm looking for information on what it would cost to repair two small holes in the hull of my 1971 O'Day Daysailer and also, what it might cost to re-paint the hull above the water line up to the rubrails. Is the sort of repair one would do on site? Thanks. Greg

What size holes

Greg, This might help... If they are above the water line...I repaired holes in my hull left from a conversion to a larger outboard bracket. I plugged them with wooden dowels and sealed them with 5100. It's a quick, easy and inexpensive do-it-yourself job. Sorry, no info on the $ to paint the hull. Tom

cheap repainting

I repainted by hull last summer by careening my boat off the trailer, one week on one side and one week on the other. I was able to clean, sand and prime on the Saturday of the first weekend, on one side plus most of the second side except where I couldn't reach, then a second coat on the sunday. The next weekend, I careened it to the other side and repeated the process where I could not reach plus the waterline strip. I let it dry and harden on site during the second week, and rolled it back onto the trailer at the end of the second week. I used Tremclad from Canadian Tire, similar to Rustoleum sold elsewhere. I used brushes and rollers to apply. Cost was about $10 a quart, and I used 2 quarts, plus a small can of contrasting color for the waterline stripe (about $5, and another 10 for pinstriping decal for the boot top. There is also the cost of sandpaper, solvent, brushes and rollers. It was not difficult to do. See the attached link for an in process photo.
