gel coat, not paint
I think all Oday boats got their original coloring from gel coat, not paint. Gel coat is pigmented resin and is applied as the first coat (on a female mold) of the layup of the boat itself. It is actually part of the boat, not a coating. If your boat came out of the factory colored red, it is gel coat, not paint. If you look at some of the Oday "option sheets" you will see that hull colors other than white were optional. I would guess that meant they didn't make a lot of boats with colored hulls, which may mean that your red boat is a slightly different shade than someonelse's. In any case, even if there is a master color code you could use for mixing replacement colored gel coat, the color of your 1974 boat has undoubtedly faded to a different color today than it was when it popped out of the mold. Of course, if your boat has been painted since it left the factory, without knowing the brand and type of paint, you can't even begin to search for a paint code. All of this means that you will probably have to mix up some replacement gel coat or paint until you hit on an acceptable substitute. Defender sells a Match 'n Patch gelcoat repair kit for $23.99 (item # 751405) that says you can match any gel coat color. If the boat needs a lot of "touch ups" maybe you can just repaint the whole shebang. Perhaps Rudy at D&R Marine (who used to work at Oday) could tell you more about the colors used at Oday.
