I am preparing to paint my O'Day 25 deck. I have experimented with the hatch for practice. I have used variations of mixtures and thinners: Interlux and 5-6% thinner with a BoatUS rollers and tipping off with sponge brushes but still get bubbles. I also get some running on the vertical surface. I have tried applying on vertical glass and all the other tricks. Has anyone been successful and what made for your success. Don't thin.
You should not need to thin. The paint is preped fine. If you thin, vertical surfaces will run for sure. Try tipping with a china bristle brush. Tip it in one direction, and leave it. The more you mess with it the more problems you will have. Use 212 to clean. Then use 333 to wipe down, It slows the initial set.( You may want to for-go 313 on vertical surfaces so that it sets quicker.) Wait about 10 minutes then roll unthinned. Tip and walk away. It should self level. If you get sticky brush strokes, you have messed with it to long. Sorry, this you will have to learn like cement finishers learn their trade, trowel and error. r.w.landau P.S.
