I have a Hunter 23.5 & the cockpit floor gets dirty & messy looking very easy!
As almost everything is white, could you recommend a good 'neutral' colour to paint the standing area with?
My 'other half' has suggested a light grey colour..............which l tend to agree with (but don't tell her!) & I know the bimini & upholstery is all a darkish brown, but to match that colour would make the cockpit area look too enclosed I'm thinkin'..........

Also, which type of paint can I use, would a spray/plastic/outdoor paint from a general hardware store do the job?

Check Kiwi Grip pachena.com

I've used it on my Grady and I am putting it on my Mac deck and cockpit. Many colors, you can tint it just about any color, and texture it.

It has lasted 3 years on the Grady under heavy use fishing offshore, just a hose off cleans up the fish guts and it still looks like the day it was put on. Only one place chipped when I dropped the raw water pump on the deck.

Also it is a very grippy surface you don't slip around on it.

I think that SBO also handles it, check with Phil.

I just used CLR on my floor and it came out like new! I didn't think it would work but was very pleasantly surprised! It takes some scrubbing with a stiff brush but you are going to have to get it clean anyway before primer and paint.
Then the big thing was boat shoes and only boat shoes. A small carpet mat to wipe your feet beside the boat works great too.
Here is a picture of the goat path I take to get down to my dock. Not very clean. Neither is Squeaky in the first picture. I just get her to wipe her feet.

Note; I don't have the mat in the photo beside the boat, but you can see the old carpet on the ramp to the dock.It will be replace this next spring with "new" used carpet.
