Hi,

I am thinking of installing a Paguro 5000 generator in my sailboat. After several considerations, I will most likely place it in the port locker with some extra soundproofing. I have read many discussion boards on the pro's and con's of installing generators. That being said, can anyone tell me if they are familiar with this brand, its performance, reliability, and noise level.

Make sure you specify 120V if your boat is set up for US current. It looks like they come set up for 50hz 230V.

A German Bukh diesel engine driving an Italian generator.. I dunno..!
The specifications sound OK.. I am not familiar with the unit at all. so I am not a qualified commenter .. The thing that I see from their literature that is different from most marine units is that it is raw water cooled on the engine block and head.. which is OK, but in cold places would require more winterization and careful attention to the anodes at other times..
