Thinking of subscribing to 48 North. I already subscribe to Pacific Yachting and think it's great. Is 48 North much different? Is it worth my $30/year? I usually sail one - two weeks a year in the Gulf and/or San Juan's and I need things to get me through the looong winters in Alberta.

I'd rate 48degrees North hands down the winner in that race.

Ken - I can sympathize with your craving for reading information during the winter. Here's an option. While it may not be as touchy-feely as paper, SOME of the articles are on-line at http://www.48north.com/articles.htm and - they are FREE. The on-line articles have color pictures where as the paper ones, in the past, didn't. The new issues, however, are beginning to go with some color but it's on news print paper and not glossy so the pictures don't have that National Geographic look to them.

Just added it to my "Favorites" list. Reading free online sounds perfect to me. We don't have any marine stores giving it away around here.
