New 1974 O Day 20 owner. Trying to fill out boat registration doc. Trying to find out these two items. # of persons capacity and persons weight capacity for O Day 20. Any help would be great.

Your boat was advertised to sleep four people. Check out this site for more information. http://www.iheartodays.com/ There is a rule of thumb formula that can be found in Chapman's "Piloting, Seamanship, And Small Boat Handling".

Sailboats are not required by the USCG to carry a capacity plate, otherwise that would be clue. O'Day listed the 20 as having seating for 6, They list the "sailing displacement" as 2425# with 4 people aboard (150# ea.), so I guess you could say that O'Day "rated" the boat for 6 persons or 900# weight capacity. Again, since sailboats are not required to have a capacity rating, this is "unofficial", but should serve as a ballpark figure!
