Have any P42 owners ever had a window installed in the forward cabin? I would be interested in knowing the details.

Where?

I guess you could install some on the side of the hull. I think my (91) 33.5 had some windows on the hull up fwd.

Same for the H430

My 430 has an oval, non-opening window on the hull, at the same level as similar windows in the main salon. If I were to consider installing one in a boat that does not have one, I would try to get an engineering opinion form Hunter regarding structural integrety, etc, before cuttin' da hole! That said, having visited the plant, the procedure they use is simply using a router to cut out the window opening on a pattern molded into the hull.

Here's Why

We stow our inflatable in front of the mast and it makes for a dark forward cabin because the hatch is covered by the dingy. Where is the window in the H43?? That is the same hull as the P42. The 42 has a fake window on the hull but it is behind the cabinet on the right side of the forward cabin. [this is in later models only.] What i would like to do is put a window on the left side in line with the two in the main cabin and of the same style and size. I was just wondering if anyone else had ever done it. I suppose it is something I should take up with my yard.

Fake window

Brad, We also have a fake window, but ours is amidship on the port side, behind the microwave. The forward cabin window is on the starboard side, about 3-4 feet forward of the mast post. On your boat, is that an accessible location? Is there a dummy lexan window there? George georgek2@earthlink.net

P42 Fake Window

Yes, we have a fake window in the forward cabin on the starboard side, but it is behind a cabinet. If it were on the larboard side it would be in the clear. I guess what I would like to do is put a window at about that location on the left side, by the vanity desk. But if it is going to cost $1,000, I think we will just turn on the lights instead.
