Dear Madam/Sir, the Adler/Barbour frig on our 1991 Passage 42 seems to work fine but the freezer hardly gets cold. I suspect the system may need to be recharged? It cycles on, the cold plate gets cold, but not enough to freeze. Any ideas? I need to check the system over to make sure it has clear ventilation, etc. Was Hunter still using a freon based system in 91? Thanks. Terry

The issue may revolve around the chargeability of the system though. I'd have to look at mine but they were designed for easy instaallation and came precharged with connectorized lines from the condensor/compressor unit to the evaporator. I cannot recaall seeing charging ports although they may be there. If not, have an AC repair guy come in and solder in charge ports, evacuate the system and recharge. If the system has been discharged for some time, moisturemay have collected in the remailing freon. This must be removed by evacuation and the installation of a filter/dryer for reliability. then try to find a leak.

..and it was a low freon condition. I had a marine refrig guy out. He evacuated and recharged it and tested for leaks. He found none and suggested it was just a loose connection. Works fine now. Cost about $220. Rick D.

I was told once by a HVAC guy that they won't work on pre charged systems. After next Dec. I will be able to work on my own system.
