I'm looking for some opinions and comparisons on Pearson 27's to others... maybe comparisons to Catalina 27's, or other boats in the same size/comfort/quality/ability range, etc.Any advice?
There is no question about it. Pearson made high quality durable boats. Around here you see as many Pearsons still on the water as you do Catalinas and Hunters that are still in production. I have no first hand experience with a P27 but I race and cruise my 1976 P28-1. We love our 28 and many people comment on how well she sails. We are very competitive in our cruising class and usually beat many of the boats in the racing class.Catalinas seem to have more creature comforts in the newer models but I think the P27 is a roomy comfortable boat from the info I have read about it. Don't worry about parts. Many people think it is easier to get parts for Catalinas and Hunters because they still make boats but most of the parts you may need are made by third parties still in business anyway. Here are some good websites:http://www.pearsoninfo.nethttp://www.boats.com/content/default_detail.jsp?contentid=7765Tim R.
