Pearson 26 Oneida Lake, eventually
Howdy, all...

My 1972 P26 has some pretty messed up portlight windows. Instead of repairing or resealing the two large ones in the salon properly, the previous owner put a piece of some type of thick plexiglass over them with a TON of screws and regular ol' silicone. They still leak, and are now totally scratched and almost opaque. Goody. The original portlight windows and frames are still there on the inside, but I have no idea what I'll find under the plexi on the outside once I remove it. The two smaller portlights in the head area haven't been "renovated" and are at least still original, but one leaks pretty bad now too.

Can any of you give me any idea how to proceed? I've read as much as I've been able to find on the internet, in Don Casey's books, and various websites, but I'm afraid I'll get the old fixtures out, find out that they're ruined beyond simple resealing, and not have anything on hand to put in in their place. Any advice? Is there a source for drop-in replacements? What about windows that can be opened for added ventilation?

ANY ideas or advice would be greatly appreciated. I want to tackle this soon so I DON'T have to worry about it when we launch next season.

Thanks in advance..

Barry
