Needing to refit a 9.9 Yamaha kicker on the P26. There's 33" from the transom cutout to the top of the rudder below. My old seagull longshaft is 5" too long (by measuring tape). Just bought a 2000 Yamaha 9.9 Sail motor and it measures possibly 3" too long. Had an old Evinrude 9.9 Sail which fit fine but would come out of the water on 2' seas.
Has anyone put a later model kicker on the factory cutout successfully without modifying the transom height?
