Oxidation

Oxidation; a facinating subject near and dear to my heart. I have an '86 model 25.5 with more oxidation (not terrible) than I would like. I am told it must be compounded with mild rubbing, light rubbing, polishing and then waxed. Does that sound about right? Thank you for the response! Mike

Wet sand

I prefer to skip the polishing compound and get right to the wet sanding. I start with 1000 grit, move to 1500 then finish up with 2000. Wax it and you are done. Use plenty of water while wet sanding. Tim

start easy

Start off by trying the easiest method in a test area - lightest oxidation remover. If that does not give you the results you want, go to a heavier duty product or coarser grit.I thought I was in bad shape, but was surprised at the great results from 3M fiberglass restorer/wax from West Marine.
