oxidation reduction...

The topside gelcoat on deck is reducing due to chaulky oxidation after years of non treatment. I would like to try and halt this process but would like to hear how some folks took care of this issue first hand. I'm in my third season on an 87 H23 and have noticed that the oxidizing effect has worsend over the last two seasons, either that or I'm now becoming conciously aware of it. I've read about Island Girl as advertised on this site but I think a little comparative shopping is in order. Any clues as to the best plan of attack would be great...thanks Brian Conneely H23 Kickin' Back

Island Girl

Brian: Try Island Girl. This stuff will actually clean & condition the gelcoat. It takes a little work, but is worth the try. Many of the other products on the market only cover up the problem. You can always apply other products over Island Girl too (like regular wax).

other option

I'm investigating a product called Poli Glow. I've seen it make an older boat look great.

The end

There you have it, the two best choices. Everything else is cosmetic or inadequate. The big dilemma is which to choose. I'm an Island Girl guy but not completely thrilled. There's a great debate on all this in the Archives, but at least you've narrowed the decision.

I guess I should just dive right in...

I've read about the debate over IG, Poli Glo, Aurora products etc, but the issue of treating the non-skid leaves me with some questions...I read that IG has something to address the non skid. Anyway, this one will have to be decided with experience. Brian H23 kickin' back
