Only 24% of responding Catalina owners will decorate the exterior of their boat with holiday lights, according to last week's Quick Quiz. Is the distance to your boat a problem, or are you simply to busy to bother? If you are stringing lights, on what part of the boat, and how do you secure them for safety? Illuminate this holiday project here.

24%? I'm surprised that it's that many!

Decorate my boat for Christmas? Why? It's on the hard along with a significant number of other boats. The electrons are 300 feet from the stern, the marins's deserted. I'm surprised that as many as 24% of the boat owners will decorate their boat for the season. Steve (Slightly Frozen) M

Need more lights!!!!!!!!

Our C27 is kept in our driveway on it's trailer for the winter. When it's 40 below outside and there's 5 feet of ice on the water the sight of her sitting there patiently waiting for spring is enough to put a little heat back into this old heart. We have a length of multi-coloured mini lights up the full length of the mast and the hull outlined in blue mini-lights to match the lights on the house. The neighbourhood folks seem to really enjoy our dressing up the boat in this fashion.

Lights on Cap 18

My Capri 18 is on its trailer in my driveway with a string of motion-type lights all the way around it on the lifelines. Looks good, but I'll need to take them off if I want to go sailing next week.

Not this Year!!!

This is the first year in last 5 that I havn't decorated a boat for the holidays! A big mistake !!!! I missed the fun and pleasure of planning and creating a display and entertaining the parade spectators and visitors to our harbor! Over 15,000 lights went to waste in the attic this year !!! zip ties to attach lights to toe rails ... harnesses assembled from zip ties and shackles to attach light strings reinforced with 1/8'' nylon line to halyards for hoisting. Several power strips to distribute the electrons from shore power and a really BIG generator for powering the whole contraption in the parade!!! Look for us next year!!! If we arent in Mexico !!!
