Help!!! Have just purchased abovementioned sailboat and there is no manual with it. I really don't know things like....if there is a way to drain the water tank, etc. Anyone know where I can get a manual, I have looked everywhere!!!

Probably not an issue Taffy

Taffy, I have a 27, and all the orig paperwork and manual(s) that came with the boat, they are generally useless and give no practical information. Other 27 (Cherub) owners may agree. Clearly, there is no useful information in the ones Hunter supplied with my 27. The Yanmar manual is basic and essentially useless as well. Just general start/stop information. I can fax you page copies of what I have..... Jim

It might be better to build your own

Jim is correct about the usefulness of the manuals. Someone put a copy on the web (sorry I do not have the url)which was for most purposes a basic map of the plumbing and electrical systems. If your boat is like mine these have been modified somewhat by previous owners. The yanmar books more useful because a previous owner made notations such as how to bleed the fuel line and change the impeller. It will help in the long run if you open every hatch, locker, and hidey hole and trace all the systems, sketch, take pictures, learn your boat. The Cherub 27 changed over the years so you cannot rely on looking at another boat. I confess I did not do this and never realised the manner in which the cockpit drains were hooked up. One day on the lake we started taking water and I was going nuts trying to find the leak. Of course the battery connections had to fail at the same time. Some learning can save a lot of anxiety. If there is still something that has you baffled just ask. It would surprise me if someone on this list cannot provide an answer. Andy "Baroque"

Emptying the water tank

As far as emptying the forward water tank, I just fire up the engine, loosen the hose clamp on the bottom of the tank, remove the hose, and let it spill into the bilge. I keep the engine running simply to keep the batteries charged while the bilge is running. May be unprofessional <G>, but it works! If I'm winterizing, I just blow out the lines with the wet vac in reverse. Jim
