Owner Profile????????????????????

I noticed that owners who come on this forum to ask for help go into the owner profile and register but everything is empty.No info on the boat or location,what's up with that we don't needto know your life history but at least the boat model and year maybeyour location would be good.Hey Phil it should be required to fill out certain info when registeringhere on the forum,just my 2 cents no big deal but it would help when guyshere offer their help.Nick

Us crusty old salts have to stick together.Moving on:I'm not a big fan of mandatory entry of data. This is exactly the kind of thing that gets folks into trouble with identity theft. These criminals can so deftly answer questions about you that it is hard to tell them from you.Phil probably does not want to pull maintenance on all the data either. Keeping is simple will make his job easier.

Ross~I enjoy reading your responces to the many questions that occur on SBO.com. This forum is for all and the agreed principal is that there are no stupid questions. In the years that I have been following threads here, there has been very few personal attacks, but they do occur ocassionally. As in the past they will come and they will go. I don't need to tell you that you are a good man who has helped out countless sailors and friends. Your advice is well taken by those that are here to learn. I don't give a rip about you entering any data you want or leaving it blank. I think that given the choice I may or may not enter the details as I understand my security situation and what that data compromise would mean to me. I'm with Ross that boat name and home port, etc are not going to be critical information for the vast majority of us. But it could be critical for some!Oh yea, I don't think calling people names is an effective way to make your point. In fact it is an indication of your mentality. I'm not currently impressed.
