This product supposedly restores the faded gelcoat over all colors does not work on white. Anyone used it?

Thanks,
Bill

IMO, not worth trying.

Anytime I see the words "deep penetrating oil" in the description, I know it's just going to leave an oily slick on the surface so it looks as if it's accomplished something. Gone in a week or so.

The application directions require that you just wipe it on and wipe it off. It may remove oxidation (somehow) but it won't smooth out all those microscopic little pits like a compound does.

Wish it were true, but I'm afraid it's still the old fashioned way if you want a good finish on weathered gel coat  .

And here's the "bible" on how to properly buff out gelcoat. http://forums.sbo.sailboatowners.com/showthread.php?t=117266

I've just finished my spring prep. Last year I did the topsides and cabin top. I was unsatisfied with the job I did in the cockpit, so this spring, I went to town again with 600 grit wet, then 1000 grit wet, then compound and Presta Cutting Creme. Looks like it came out of the showroom.

I also just did the non-skid. I went with the whole system from Aurora - first their Boat Wash, then their Boat Scrub, finishing up with Auroa Sure Step. The Boat Scrub is supposed to "remove oxidation." I gotta say, scrubbing it with a natural bristle scrub brush did not change the color of the bubbles, so therefore it didn't remove any gelcoat. It gets the snake oil assessment from me. However, buffing off the Sure Step with a microfiber cloth sure did make the non-skid areas glisten more than they ever have. Between my particularly aggressive non-skid pattern (like little pyramids,) and the area of the driveway that inadvertently got treated, the 1 tub of Sure Step barely finished the boat. At $27 per, I won't be buying a second tub to put on the recommended 2 coats. I hope it lasts with just one coat. (When the open tub slid off the boat onto the gravel driveway, expletives were yelled. "That's $27.00 a tub!!!!!")
