I should show this one to 'the Admiral'! She insists that I go "overboard" on everything involving my little Venture!:D

Saw this Mac on ebay, lots of work went into her. I think it's very nice, gives plenty of ideas as to what can be done to an old Mac. I do think their starting bid is way high, but you never know.
If you want check her out here is the link. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1974...mdZViewItemQQptZSailboats?hash=item19ba8d1cfd
It was up for sale I think about 6 months ago and didn't sell evidently. About the price I think it is a deal if you want a 'one off' boat. If you just want a sail boat for a sail boat then yes it is high. If you want a boat that when you tie up everyone walks past the other "sail boats" to look at yours then the price is low.

It is kind of like comparing a restored 1974 'Vette vs. a 1974 Buick. The Buick is bigger, but which one would you like to drive down to the local drive-in, the Buick or Vette :)?

A very nice boat in deed if that is what you want and I'm surprised that there isn't someone out there that has snapped it up for those vary reasons.

I agree, all the wood detail is very nice.
It is a current auction. Bid now, auction ends tomorrow!

Pretty, but I expect a lot of added weight. Owner says displacement is 2000 lbs, but everything I find says a stock 25 is over 2000, so there is no telling what it really is. I would not be crazy about the electric motor, either. Some of the places I sail would require a long time to get to where I could raise sails and find some wind. Someone's cup of tea, just not my can of beer! -Paul

I'm curious about all that added weight high above the waterline and how that effects stability. That boat is was originally lighter than my 25(looks more like a 24). It certainly is very classy with all that "wood" though. Has anyone used that stuff for trim?

The season is just starting here in So Cal this year. The 80* weather and time change means its time to list mine. Please no comments on it's being over priced. He's put a lot of work into it and done a beautiful job but I'm sure he's not even close to getting his money out of it.

Great looking boat, enjoyed the pictures. Someone probably got a lot of satisfaction out of the project.

But money wise.. I think with an old Mac, you cant expect any modifications to change the selling price much. You just have to do the mods because its what you want and what you enjoy doing.

The extremely positive side of this is that you can also tailer these boats to really meet your needs without taking a big financial risk. I think most people here really enjoy the customizing aspect.. sometimes I feel like I'm like a 17 year old with his first car.

I'm sure you are right about that :). Now about what you are going to ask for yours, I'm sure it will be too high ;).

When do you head east for your "other" boat? We are leaving for your 80 degree weather on Monday and should be back here early April, so as I mentioned before if you have any problems on the trip east call and I can probably find someone close to you to give you a hand,

Nice and pretty boat BUT: Here in Southern California in the ocean all it's good for is to sit on it on the trailer or at a dock and drink beer Or?
In my humble opinion, for what it's worth, I wouldn't use it in this ocean.

That looks like a good example of why I say getting it in the water and finding out if you really like sailing before spending a lot of money and time is a good idea. Then go nuts :D

Frank, when is the road trip?
