Hi All,

I have a Dufour 34. It is from 1975.
It came with an Eno 3 burner propane Stove with an oven.
The oven will light up but won't hold the flame.
When I remove the match, it will go off.

I asked around and the yards say, we can put in a new stove.
Obv, I am not interested in spending $1400 on a stove and ++ on installation and adaptation.

Based on my amateur research there is a Thermocouple which I assume I should replace.

Anyone had any luck with someone in the bay area in San Francisco with this.
I could try it myself, but my wife would not be kind if I blew up the boat and damaged myself at the same time
as I am useful for the kids.

The stove itself is nice and looks right vs the new ones. It is an older boat and I like old stuff.

Any advice would be great.

Welcome to SBO.

Eno ovens are now owned by the same company that owns Force 10 stoves. On the Force 10 stoves the thermocouple is part of the igniter. If you are using a match to light the burner you problem may be as simple as a dead battery. Check the manual for the battery location and try replacing it. If that doesn't work, replacing the igniter/thermocouple is not a big deal. There will be a single wire to the thermocouple and a screw holding it in place. I just did this on my stove top at home.

Thanks dlochner, I'll take out the oven and give it a try.
If you hear of a sailboat on fire in the bay. That will be me making a pizza.
;)

You can probably do all the work with the oven in place. They are a PITA to take out.

Please find the parts page at the site below. From the technical drawing and my own two burner ENO: you just take off the door, remove the grills and the bottom plate... you will see the thermocouple. If it is defective follow the wire to the knob with simple tools. Since you are not touching propane lines your wife shouldn't be nervous.

Good luck.

My vote is on the thermocouple.…a safety feature that prevents the gas valve from opening if there is no pilot flame.

Thank you, I ordered the part from Seattle as the Euros did not have it in stock.
I'll try doing it your way with the door.
Thanks for the help

If you need a push button switch for the igniter, they only charge about $8 or $9, but the postage is expensive. It's a 5/8" (or 16mm) hole so you could replace it with any single-pole momentary contact switch that fits the hole. I suggest a waterproof one, because those switches are often used with wet hands. It's possible the high failure rate of those switches is due to moisture.

Doesn’t everyone keep a towel hanging from the oven handle to dry hands or wipe up engine oil spills in a pinch. Then of course toss it in the garbage, preferably off the boat. You then need a good story for; “Where’s the tea towel to dry the dishes/glasses?” You know it will be coming. “I think it was whisked overboard when that last gust blew through the cabin…”

Ended up pretty easy to take out the oven.
There were 4 screws attaching it to the rig that swings it.
Can't replace much without taking it out.
Thanks for the advice.

Thanks again for the website link.
The instuctions didn't match mine as mine is from 1975 but they were close enough.

The website also sent the part, cost an arm and a leg in shipping but sure is cheaper than $1500 for a new oven.

Hi All,

To sum up the post.
ENO 1975 ovens were bought by Force 10.
You can use the site SVB marine to buy Force 10 parts.
They also have a blowup which is super useful for getting an idea of how to take it apart.

The shipping is expensive but worth it.

I've attached the photos in case someone needs them to do the same.

I've tested it and you need to fidget with the height of the thermocouple.
I also needed to take out the sides to trace the metal as it goes from bottom to side to top.
I also took out the top to insert it into the front knob.

No battery, this is an old oven but it looks the color scheme of the boat
and now works like new.

Thanks a ton guys!
