Playing with google-earth and dreaming about cruising made me think about South Carolina. I used to sail off the beach around Myrtle Beach and even long day sails down to Surfside and back. Back then Murrels inlet was a wild place. From google-earth it looks like Murrel's inlet is fully developed. The inlet has jetties now but still looks interesting. So would a reasonsble sailer sail along the coast from Florida to NC. Charleston looks good as does Georgetown. Can you run the inlet and anchor at Murrel's inlet or is it too developed? A 100 mile run seems pretty reasonable for coastal cruising so can you leap frog up the east coast in this area or are longer runs required?? I am sure that it is possible to take a Macgregor 25 around cape Hatteras in the winter if you are a good captain. But is it reasonable?? Do the sailers in Charleston routinely run up to Little River on the outside??
